Typical Day?

Lately I've been talking quite a bit with a guy who is in our language school and is in training to be a missionary. He was talking about his "discretionary time" and how he so needs it in order to get his things done in preparation for being a full-time missionary. He asked me how I do it, without having much time to myself to do the things that I need to do. I don't know, except that I found that not thinking of my life as my own has helped me a lot.

I mean, as a mom of three boys and wife I haven't had much time to do what I want for years, but then moving away from the insulated box/homes in the US has also challenged me. I don't clock out at five and go home and watch my shows and do things that I want to do at home.

Here's an example of my days:
6:40 - get up and get littlest to school. Make coffee, wake up...
8:30 - staff devotions
9:00 - start homeschooling our kids. During this time, the office is a constant flow of students asking permissions to leave campus, miss meals, etc.
1:30 - lunch
2:00 - hand out work details for the day
2:30 - 4:00 - go out and supervise work details, make sure everyone is where they need to be, counsel students who are free, etc...
5:00 - maybe go home and wash dishes and laundry?
6:00 - dinner
7:00 - 9:00 appointments with students about various and asundry things...

So, what types of things have we counseled about this week? Students who have lied, students who have had premarital sex, students who need to grow up and leave their childish ways behind, students who are "in love", students who are trusting God for their tuition payments to come in... married students who are having difficulties, single students who are anxious about their spouses.

Every day is a new opportunity and a joy. I love my job!
