A view from a Mexican

We had cake and coffee the other night with a Mexican pastor and some of the members of his congregation. He had just returned from a trip to Houston and he was telling the people about life in the States. He told them that the reason we have so much money is because we are a people who work and are disciplined. According to him, we work from 6 in the morning until 6 at night and then after that we are all at home. He was amazed that we have Saturdays AND Sundays off. He then told them that we have so many rules and are so disciplined because we can only let our grass get so high, our fences are regulated, we can only paint our houses a certain color, we have to wear our seatbelts, we need permission from our government for everything. That cracked me up, as I was thinking that he definitely hadn't visited Trailersville, NC or somewhere like that! The land of the free, indeed???
