Just got back...

... from a quick trip to the USofA, where we had a mini-vacation with my parents in San Antonio. It was a lot of fun, and it was great to relax and be away from here and the stresses that full-time ministry can put on someone. I mean, we work here, we live here, we go to church here, we educate our children here... all at the ministry! It's great to be a part of something so wonderful, but it is nice to be away from here and get a breath of fresh air.

One thing that always takes us by surprise when we go to the US is how cold it is everywhere! When someone lives without air conditioning you really can get used to it. I woke up this morning and it was 88 degrees INSIDE my house, and it felt refreshing. It heated up quickly after I made some pizzas at lunch, but I'm guessing the inside temps will hover around 95 this afternoon. So, can you imagine going to a store where the temps are around 72? Or sleeping in a hotel room with air conditioning? We were freezing out and had to turn the air off! I'm sure the maids thought we were crazy when they came in to clean the next day.

On our way back to Mexico we stopped in Laredo, Texas, and bought ourselves a room air conditioner unit for those of you who may worry about us. Our church in Concord sent us money to buy that and a hot water heater. We won't need the hot water heater until around September when it starts to get cool (and it really does get cold here in Mexico, THAT'S another story). I am enjoying a refreshing shower before I go to bed, just to wash off the sweat and cool the body temps down before going to sleep. Hopefully we will get the air conditioner put in during the next few days, but the hottest time of the year hasn't hit yet, that's in August!

Here, where the temp doesn't get above 83, I can truly say I would MELT down there!
