Esther

I just finished reading the book of Esther and I thought I'd share a little something thought-provoking for today's Whatever Wednesday...

After Esther appealed to the king, after Mordecai was paraded around and exalted, after Haman was impaled on the pole, after all this Esther went back to talk to the king and ask him to revoke the order made by Haman to kill all the Jews. The king gave her his signet ring and told her that no order that had been given in his name could be revoked, but that they could make an order so that all the Jews could join together, and "destroy, kill, and annihilate all the forces of any people or province that would assault them, both little children and women, and to plunder their posessions." (Esther 8:11)

So, these people are going to obey an order given by the king to destroy all the Jewish people, and then the Jewish people have to obey an order given by the king to fight back, plunder, and destroy! We are called to war, and we have to remember the book of Job (which I am reading now) where God allowed all-out war on Job. We must fall to our knees in prayer, fight with intercession and the word, and praise and worship our God.
