Taking off the Masks

I was reading a blog today, http://cfhusband.blogspot.com and I was so touched by his honesty. He is going through a pretty tough time right now, with his wife in the hospital awaiting a double lung transplant and his newborn daughter in the NICU, just weighing over 1 pound. He's a brother in the faith, and he was sharing that his blog was started as an outlet and it's more for him than anyone else. He says that his blog has helped him to deal with things and he kind of speaks faith to himself through it.

There are things that I would like to write about, there are struggles that I go through and hurtful things that happen in our life. I am afraid to write about them. I'm afraid for people to know that sometimes life just sucks... it has nothing to do with being a missionary, you know? It's got everything to do with just living in a fallen world and dealing with fallen people.

So, I'm going to pray and ask God to help me use this as an outlet for things, but also to make me even more real to people. I mean, I've come a LONG way over the last decade, but I still have a ways to go to take off that mask. How about you guys?

Jan, thank you for sharing the blog link. It was beautiful to read about his baby and wife and how he feels, it was very real and raw feeling.

As far as your comment about learning to be real, I can identify with that as well. I too am learning to take my mask off, one little part at a time. Each year it becomes more and more transparent. I'm sure yours will too.

I look forward to reading more about your "real" life. I pray for you and your family when you come to mind.
