Living in a war zone

Most people do not think of war when they think of Mexico. They think of beaches, tequila, large cities, and tacos. When you live here, though, you are quickly brought to the reality that there is a war here between the drug cartels, the police, and the army. Just yesterday I watched an army helicopter flying low, full of armed, masked soldiers, looking for something in the town. Some days we see the army caravans drive through town, stopping and checking out different places. We get stopped occasionally on the highway and asked for our identification and checked out.

We personally do not have to worry about getting in trouble with the law, but it does drive us to prayer for this country. The USA just released 99 million dollars to help Mexico in the drug war. I hope it doesn't end up in corrupt politician's hands.
